Hey I'm Caitlin, the face behind the words (and controller) 🙋🏼‍♀️

So, I've cracked the ability of "How to get PlayStation Now in Australia" and am going to show how you can too 🥳 I thought it was a little unfair that other countries get incredible games with their monthly membership, but our PS Plus barely ever comes though 😪 Keep reading if you want PlayStation games from AU$12 per month 🤑

What is PlayStation Now? It's a subscription service that allows you to download or stream (run remotely with saves stored in the PS cloud) a selection of games that came from PS2, PS3 and PS4 - with a selection of literally hundreds. I'm RPG obsessed and have saved a few to my list, such as The Witcher, God of War, Elder Scrolls Online, Red Dead Redemption, Horizon, Bloodborne, and am currently playing Fallout 4 again on my PS4 while I wait for my PS5 to be delivered. For a full list of available games, click here: https://www.playstation.com/en-us/ps-now/ps-now-games/ It'll be sure to whet your appetite and put in the bit of effort to set your own account up with my guidance.

So, here's the catch - PlayStation Now is not available in Australia, with zero speculation of the feature making its way here any time soon. It is available in the US however, but there is a lot of security surrounding making purchases from the US. You'll be unable to purchase PS Now even with your US PS account, unless you have an American bank card or American PayPal account (of which I personally do not 🙃).

The trick is to purchase a PS Now voucher to be redeemed on the US PS store, through a third party provider. But PS Now vouchers can't be purchased in Australia. They're on Amazon (US) but you can't buy them there from Australia either, and PC Game Supply cancelled my orders both with my bank card and PayPal, even with the verification phone call, because they're based in Australia. I raised two tickets for support with no success.

PC Game Supply failed orders for PS Now 3 month voucher

I gave the US Target a crack. Yes Target, as in the homewares and clothing store. I figured if our Big W sells gift vouchers, so would their version. And it worked.

Here's the step-by-step:

  1. Create a new PlayStation account on the PS US site: https://www.playstation.com/en-us/ (I used an alternate email address to my main one).

  2. Have all your contact details based in the US. I used Concord, New Hampshire (postcode 03301) because there's no sales tax, and made up a phone number including the area code 603 at the start. You'll use all this info in the next section so write it all down in your notes app.

  3. Purchase a PlayStation Now voucher via Target. (I purchased 3 month membership for US$24.99/AU$34.06 as of JUL21). Be sure that the voucher you are purchasing is "PlayStation Now", not Playstation Plus or a Playstation store card, and it must also have 12 digits to be redeemable with your US PS account.

  4. When creating a required Target account, enter your previously used US contact details, and find an address actually in Concord (I looked up a shop location via Google). Once processed, the voucher can take up to 4 hours to come through to your email, but mine came in about an hour (of which I practically held my breath for).

  5. Sign in to your US PS account either via computer or PlayStation and redeem your voucher that arrived via email.

  6. Sign out of your AU PlayStation account on your console and log in with your US PlayStation account. I personally cleared my PS of data while I was at it, though I'm not sure if that's necessary to sign in with a new account, it just didn't make a difference to me.

  7. Download alllll the games included in your membership subscription!
